I just got this email from my neighbor and board member Greg Breen.

Dear Friends -

As you know, I will be leaving the school board in a month after having served eight years. We have a number of qualified candidates running for the Board, and next Tuesday our community will vote for three members to replace Linda, Lance and me. The current members of Board have all brought different skills and aptitudes to the Board. Though some may disagree, I think we have worked effectively as a Board, in large part because of the diversity of skills on the Board.

The background and capability I've brought to the Board have been financial and quantitative analysis; in short, the ability to distill and understand the school's and state's financial affairs. In light of the financial situation of the state and the consequent impact on our schools, I think it imperative that the Board continue to have someone with deep quantitative and financial skills.

Of the folks running for the Board, the one who possesses the strongest analytical skills, and who has devoted the most effort to reviewing and understanding the finances of the District, is Jack Burns.

I urge you to join me in making Jack Burns one of the choices for school board on November 3.
